TIBCO to MuleSoft Migration on API-Led Architecture
CLIENT PROFILE: Smart-building access technology company
Migrated legacy TIBCO integrations onto MuleSoft in three months using a 3-layer API-led architecture, replacing opaque point-to-point flows with reusable, monitored System, Process and Experience APIs.
3 months
End-to-end migration timeline from discovery to cutover
Retired
Legacy TIBCO ESB footprint and its license burden
Reusable
Observable API layers replacing point-to-point coupling
/ CHALLENGE
Core business integrations ran on a legacy TIBCO ESB with tightly coupled flows, limited observability and specialist-only maintainability, making change slow and risky as the business scaled.
/ APPROACH
- 01Reverse-engineered TIBCO flows into documented data contracts and business rules per integration domain.
- 02Used Claude Code to generate MuleSoft API skeletons, RAML specs and DataWeave scaffolding from those contracts, compressing weeks of boilerplate into days.
- 03Re-implemented each flow as System, Process and Experience APIs on Anypoint Platform for reuse across teams.
- 04Ran migrations in parallel with reconciliation checks so cutover happened without data loss or downtime.
- 05Added structured logging, alerting and CI/CD promotion so the new estate is observable and repeatably deployable.
